In the spirit of togetherness, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the grant recipients and community partners we have had the privilege of supporting.
FROM OUR CHAIR
FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Dear Friends,
In 2024, we updated our mission, vision, and values, grounding them even more firmly in our unwavering commitment to the Flint community, equity, and justice.
Our refreshed mission is simple and applies to everything we do, from our grantmaking and impact investing to our stewardship of Applewood: Working with the community, we connect people, ideas, and resources for a vibrant and inclusive Flint.
Our 2023-24 report is a testament to this mission in motion. Over the past several years, we listened deeply to our community. We focused inward on organizational learning, asking questions about how we show up, who we support, and how we can build a future that represents our vision for Flint to be a just and equitable community where all thrive.
Our values are inspired by the values of our founder. Through our work and alongside our partners, we strive to cultivate trust, pursue justice, promote civic engagement and commit to the long term. This report lifts up the stories of people and organizations in Flint who are leading with these values every day. You’ll read about community members coming together to tackle blight and advocate for their neighborhoods, dedicated adults mentoring the next generation of leaders, a first-of-its-kind cash aid program designed to improve the health of moms and babies, and entrepreneurs nurturing their community-based businesses from the germ of an idea.
Together, our updated mission, vision, and values are more than just statements; they are calls to action, guiding us in our work with community. Thank you for your partnership and your commitment to this city. We look forward to continuing this important journey together toward a just and equitable Flint.
With gratitude,
Maryanne Mott

Postscript from Raquel: This is the last Ruth Mott Foundation report to be issued under my tenure, as I am retiring in 2025. It has been an incredible honor to serve the community, work alongside such talented and passionate individuals, and help guide the organization through transformative change. I am deeply proud of all that we have accomplished during my time here and look forward to seeing the Foundation work with the community to build a Flint where all thrive.
